What We Believe
Who God is
We believe that God is the all-powerful Creator and Sustainer of all things visible and invisible, who eternally exists in three Persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; and that these three are one God, having precisely the same nature, attributes, and perfections, and are worthy of precisely the same homage, confidence, and obedience. (Matt. 28:19-20)
What the Bible is:
We believe the Bible is the very words of God spoken through human authors. It is trustworthy and without error in the original manuscripts. It is our highest authority and all points to Christ as its fulfillment. (Romans 15:4, 2 Tim. 3:16, 2 Pet. 1:21)
Who Christ is:
Jesus Christ is God incarnate, truly God and truly man, one person with two natures. (Colossians 2:9)
Who man is:
Mankind was created in God’s image but is spiritually dead because of our sinful nature and our sinful behavior. (Ephesians 2:1-3)
What Christ did:
Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, and lived a perfect sinless life. He fulfilled God’s promises to redeem and save humanity through his death on the cross as an atonement for our sins. He was resurrected and has ascended into heaven where we await his return. (2 Cor. 5:21, 1 John 2:1-2, 1 Cor. 15:19-25)
What man must do:
Man must be born again to receive eternal life by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. (Acts 16:31, Romans 4:5, Ephesians 2:8-9)
What Christ will do:
He will physically return in power and glory to make all things new. His return is our blessed hope. (Acts 1:11)
What the ordinances are:
We believe baptism and communion were given to the church by Christ. They are only for professing believers in Christ for our sanctification and proclamation of the gospel. (Matt. 28:19, 1 Cor. 11:26)
What we believe about gender and sexuality:
We believe that humanity was created in the image and after the likeness of God. God created them male (man) and female (woman). Men and women are sexually different but have equal personal dignity. Some men and women are called to remain single; some are called to marriage, which is a “one flesh” union between one man and one woman intended to end only upon a spouse’s death. This union allows for procreation as well as furtherance of the moral, spiritual, and public good. Therefore, sexual acts outside of biblical marriage are prohibited by Scripture. (Exod. 20:14, Lev. 18:7–23, Rom. 1:26–32).
